Surreal game in the wilds of Pennsylvania tonight.

Meadville wins at DuBois by the score of 107-90. (Yes, football. High school football.)

Meadville RB Journey Brown carries 30 times for 720 yards, a state record, and 10 touchdowns.

DuBois QB Matt Miller throws for 782 yards, a national record, and 10 touchdowns.

Brown sets state mark, leads ’Dogs to wild win

Nice. Had a teaser over 185 in this one and Utah State +19.

720 yards rushing is not a national record?

According of the story, which was a fun read, the national record is 754.

Either way, he made some fantasy owner very happy.

754 yards set in New Jersey in 1950, according to the NFHS website

I've seen some big games, stat-wise. Saw Shady McCoy clear 400 in a game as a freshman, and saw you have situations like that when the runner is superior to everyone outside the box. Then, he gets past the first line of defense and outjukes everyone else, over and over.

But I still have a hard time picturing a kid running for 720, let alone 754 in a game. Got to wonder if a DuBois defender actually brought him to the ground over the course of the night.

I covered the DuBois coach at his previous stop, where his QB broke most of the PIAA passing yardage records. No, his teams never did play much defense, but they sure could throw the ball all over the yard.
So if his current QB is only a sophomore, he'll own those records before he's done.

Jeff Pearlman broke out in hives reading that stats-heavy gamer.
