In a scene reminiscent of Legally Blonde, a sorority recruitment video beckons us into its bleached-blonde, white-skinned universe and presents it as a place full of beauty and void of substance. But now that sorority is distancing itself from the video after an online backlash.

The University of Alabama’s Alpha Phi chapter presumably wanted prospective sorority members to think its members are the coolest, prettiest, most sisterly girls on campus. To get the message across, the sorority created the video below for its upcoming bid day.

It quickly received a swath of negative attention, prompting the chapter to take down the video, and make its Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts all private. But before it was taken down, the video was reposted by others so that this tampon-commercial-on-steroids could live on.

Alabama sorority's recruitment video sparks national outrage

Didn't this happen like a month ago?

It was ridiculous then, and it's ridiculous now. Who cares if this is how they want to portray themselves?

I don't get it. What's the problem? Too white?

Apparently; either that or people really got offended by the girls showing off their bikini tops near the end of the video. People again making a hobby out of being offended.

The prison warden should force Jared to watch that nonstop for four years. Especially the Popsicle parts.

Boil The Stepford Wives down to four minutes, throw in a little Leni Riefenstahl white Aryan goddesses, and gosh darn it if we don't have a recruiting video.

Wait a minute. People are actually "outraged" by this? They aren't just making fun of them?

That about sums it up. Oh, and some Alabama-based fashion writer with the same initials is pissed because people think she wrote it:

OTHER AL Bailey: No, I didn't write Alpha Phi column

This story is so old that some of these broads are grandparents now.
