MLB Advanced Media, L.P. (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet Company of Major League Baseball, is seeking a Fantasy Baseball Writer for a part-time opening.

Description: Shift responsibilities include writing, editing and posting player notes containing the latest baseball news and fantasy analysis. Other responsibilities include monitoring live games and news feeds, updating injury report and closer report, Tweeting breaking news and potentially writing and producing fantasy columns.

Shifts are primarily nights and weekends, from 10 to 35 hours per week. Some day shifts may be available. Location in the New York metro area preferred.

Required: Thorough knowledge of baseball and several years experience playing fantasy baseball. Strong writing skills, knowledge of AP style, deadline experience and ability to identify important breaking baseball news.

Preferred: Experience playing daily fantasy baseball. Knowledge of and comfort working with Microsoft Excel and basic HTML.

What's the deal with wanting someone in the New York area? Does it really fucking matter what state you're sitting in with your pajama pants and potato chip grease-stained Cubs t-shirt on while you type this bullshit up?

This job can be done from anywhere with a laptop.

 

Well, it seems there are actually shifts that include editing and such, so the thread title is a little misleading.

 

Perhaps they do remotes for MLB channel from the writer's home with Matt Vasgersian and Christopher Russo.

Anyway, I watch MLB channel pretty much every night. I like Amsinger. It's always funny to watch the segments he and 2 analysts -- usually ex-players -- deliver on the portion of the set with a make-believe field if only because the ex-players are theatrical in their nuanced explanations and Amsinger just sort of shuffles in place -- stepping forward, sideways, backward, toward his colleagues, shuffling his feet, always moving, shuffle shuffle shuffle -- always looking like the guy who so fucking wishes he could be one of the ex-ballplayers in these situations.

And it goes without saying though I will: Eric Byrnes is a maniac, capital M, in the very best of ways.
