Georgia beat writer

Discussion in 'Journalism Jobs' started by Daniel Shirley-Macon, May 12, 2015.

  1. The Telegraph, a McClatchy-owned daily newspaper in Middle Georgia, is seeking a writer to cover Georgia athletics with a heavy emphasis on digital work, including video, for Macon.com and the Bulldogs Beat blog. This is a high-profile, award-winning position on a very competitive beat.

The ideal candidate will have college or professional beat experience and be able to cover Georgia games, develop feature stories, build sources for breaking news stories and be skilled in social media.

This position is based in Athens.

Contact sports editor Daniel Shirley at (478) 744-4227 or send resume, clips and references to dshirley@macon.com.

This sounds like something I could get jiggy with.

Strong paper, good sports editor and the chance to live in one of the best college towns in the country. When I was close to this beat, I remember Macon regularly beating the dailies in Atlanta and Athens on big UGA stories. Should be a good gig.

Because I can't resist a cheap, easy gag.

Is this in addition to Seth Emerson or replacing him?

Mr. Shirley, you just received a slightly pretentious, possibly self-indulgent email application for this position. Thanks for reading. Bumblebee Tuna.
