There's s great story about a news flash going out during an NBA game that Dick Motta had just punched a ref.

Upon hearing ths, fellow ref Richie Powers said to the press table: "I don't know who it was, but I hope it was Dick Bavetta." And indeed it was.

Mutombo? thats a HOF joke. His last 6+ years in the league he averaged 3 points and 6 rebounds a game. His 10 prime seasons he was 12 points, 12.5 rebounds a game and 3.5 blocks a game. pretty good numbers. but HOF? WTF?

I think it was 1996 or 1997, Van Exel was on the Lakers and he shoved the ref while playing the Nuggets. After the game, I think it was Dave Krieger, asked Mutombo about the shove and Mutombo said,

    "That guy's a real muddafuckka!"

Yep, don't get the Dikembe choice.

Career average under 10 a game; only one year where he averaged more than 14 a game.

The blocked shot hall of fame, ok. But, not the basketball hall of fame.

This season gave us a first-team All-American with averages of 9.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Why not a Hall of Famer with a single-digit scoring average?

It's the basketball hall of fame, where everything you've done in basketball (college, pros, international) gets thrown in, the Naismith has always seemed very clubby to me. This guy gets in, so that guy gets in. It's frequently the hall of very good. Hell, when you can be the third or fourth best player on a team and still get in, that says something. Two, three and four-time all-stars are in.

    Robert Hughes should be in.

Was a third team All American, once. He wasn't even a great college player.

Buck Wlliams was a better pro and college player
