Chris Kluwe: Leagues fail retired athletes

    Very good read from Chris Kluwe, who seems to be way, way smarter than the average punter. My question for y'all: Is it the leagues' responsibility to teach their players how to be adults?

    I like Kluwe a lot. I think his heart is in the right place.

    I don't know that it's the league's responsibility to save athletes from their own stupidity/ignorance, but it certainly wouldn't be a bad thing if they tried to do a little more to help them.

    I know they have clinics on how to take care of your money, but I highly doubt too many pay attention.

    They have ex-players come talk to rookies about this. Teams do this as well.

    Because young playas in the NBA and NFL would pay about as much attention to a seminar on money management as they did to a health class about birth control.
