'American Sniper' Complaints Grow in Hollywood: Should Clint Eastwood Be Celebrating a 'Killer'? (Exclusive)

Celebrating a killer? Well, let us count the ways Hollywood has celebrated killers, real or fictional:

    1. James Bond
    2. Rambo
    3. Ah-nold
    4. Patton
    5. Any other war movie or western ever made.

So why is this different? The guy was trained to do a job and from all accounts, he saved both American and Iraqi lives, when you take out a would-be suicide bomber heading for a public place. He killed very bad people bent on killing many more people. And his body count of around 160? What about the body count of some guy who pushed the right buttons to unleash a drone attack? Or a pilot with the mission to take out a terrorist training camp? Does it really matter how you kill the enemy, as long as you do your level best to kill combatants and not civilians?
Oh, and fuck you Michael Moore. Fat Fuck.

So many killers have been celebrated in Hollywood movies it's impossible to count. Haven't hit men been heroes or sympathetic figures in movies/TV shows? Mob bosses? Any number of hoods and thugs?

Article has to be basing their thoughts on the book instead of the movie. Movie made Kile out to be
a more sympathetic human figure than the cold and calculating warrior that he portrayed himself to be
    in the book.

In fact I came away disappointed in the movie and figured that Eastwood was playing to the liberals in
giving Kile a conscience. If the movie was played straight it would not have been as celebrated by liberal
intelligentsia. In the movie almost every shot that Kile took ended with hand-wringing and moral conflict.
That did not come across in the book.

Lone Survivor played it closer to book and was less celebrated by Hollywood. As sidebar Chris Kile
and Marcus Lattrell were actually friends and trained together in some of early SEAL training.

Thank God he was a "cold, calculating warrior." Probably saved a lot more lives that way.

Haven't seen the movie yet. Does it include the scene from the book where Kyle libeled the shit out of Jesse Ventura, excuse me "Scruff Face"?

If he was the Hollywood version that Eastwood made him out to be he would have never made it as a sniper.

The movie that Eastwood created was the military version of The Unforgiven another Eastwood movie that had Hollywood
lactating because it showed a human side to the old west gunslingers.

No they probably did not want to end up part of lawsuit. In fact I read that the whole story has even been taken out of the books now. It would have
    been a good scene.

    90 million is pretty funny.

We were hungry for a war story.

It may be the most surprised I've ever been at a movie's opening weekend and I actually pay attention to that stuff.
